Laying Out the Lendroid Roadmap

Developments in the ecosystem have sparked new ideas, and also rationalised some of our older goals.

“So now what?”

That question usually doesn’t evoke a lot of confidence. Particularly when a project with successful funding (from a Token Generation Event or TGE) asks itself that. One expects that the project tackles this question much earlier, and then simply chugs along a linear, fixed timeline. Fair enough, but then one would have to ignore the changes and transformation of the entire ecosystem, and also disregard the best interests of the community of users.

The crypto ecosystem underwent a palpable shift in the months during and since our TGE. We’re not just talking corrections in valuation, but the direction of technology. The approach to speed and scale, discussions on regulations and on the nature of decentralization. Which is why we asked ourselves the question — “What now? What would best serve the interest of our community? How can we get this up and running and evolving at the earliest?” The roadmap is the first draft of our answer.

Here are four things about the Lendroid Roadmap you need to know -

  1. It is not linear: The Lendroid roadmap, or the journey it represents, is not a straight line. We figured that out quite early on. The triple challenges of sticky user experience, heavy liquidity and computational power can be overcome only by either subverting them, or building towards them.
  2. It is modular: You won’t have to wait until the pinnacle of margin trading, replete with an array of independent wranglers offering up liquidation-ready buckets of collateral for auction, before you can use the protocol. We’re building in bite-size, modular, highly functional chunks which can run just fine as they are.
  3. It is ambitious: You will notice that some of the elements set into the flow cannot possibly be functional today. The whole point is to push the boundaries of what’s possible in crypto. We’re one of the very very few who have a working system for offering collateralised loans today. We are the first to offer a secondary market for a stable currency. We look forward to more firsts.
  4. It is not set in stone: Inflexibility is dangerous in a highly dynamic environment. While we will certainly keep up our commitments, the roadmap is elastic. It will stretch to accommodate more solutions as and when the relevant tech opens up an opportunity.

We have structured our roadmap broadly along the following four key pillars -

  1. Collateralized Loans:
  2. Auction Markets
  3. Margin Trading
  4. Governance

These are broad classifications, in that elements that supplement each of these sections will also be included in those sections. For instance, you will find ‘Collateral Insurance’ ensconced in the collateralized loans pillar. You will also find a certain synergy between all the pillars. The progress of one will drive the progress of another. But it is important to understand that many of these milestones are maiden attempts, worthy of individual projects themselves. We might just have sparked something off with this roadmap.

In the weeks to come, we will publish a series of blogs detailing our vision for each element in the roadmap, with a tentative plan if that makes sense at this stage.
